I won't go into all the details but I have a Asus Z97-A MB and my CPU was having problems so Intel told me to try another motherboard so I bought a brand new Z97-Deluxe MB. I eventually found a loose CPU heat sink and everything has been alright since, so I have put the Deluxe MB up for sale but I keep thinking about it.
My CPU is overlooked and it reached 5GHz and seems to be working okay in my Asus Z97-A. But I get tempted to fit the Deluxe for safer overclocking. But I'm also aware that I wouldn't notice any performance difference and also I would have all the hassle of sorting my Windows 10 validity out with the new MB, plus I'm not sure what other software I have that might have to be validated with the new motherboard. So I think changing the MB is probably pointless and it's expensive so I probably better off saving my money for a new system in a few years time. What do other people think?
I'm happy with the Z97-A in that I don't need any extra facilities like more outputs or extra PCIe lanes, etc.
