Hey guys I am looking to upgrade my current rig. I am wanting a processor WITHOUT built in video. I have an ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Socket motherboard on route to me now, most of these Z97 boards say they support this xeon chip without mention of any complications. But on
the ASUS website they note that it is a server designed processor (obviously) and that some features may be lost.. The others brands make no mention of that. Do you think they are just being cautious and did not do as much testing as the other companies? If anyone has some hands on experience with Z/H97 chipset boards matched to a xeon please let me know any information you may have for me. This is really the route I want to go.
Do you think they could just be implying as I will not have a server version of windows that those features may or will be lost? Really I am just wanting to make sure it wont have negative effect on the chip, as long as my hyper threading and turbo features work I am golden.
For those interested my new build is as follows:
Intel E3-1241v3
Asus Z97-A LGA 1150 MOBO
ASUS GTX 780
Crucial MX100 256GB SSD
8B DDR3 @ 1600MHz
Corsair 750W Modular PSU
