Asus Z97 Motherboard Problems with booting

I'm working on a friend gaming build and its not that bad. The problem overall is not fully booting. It boots up for 1-2 sec and shut back down. I've tried every method I can think of from A+ to whatever I can find on google. Everything is practically brand new. The specs are

Case: CoolerMaster Stryker
Mobo: Asus Z97 Deluxe
CPU: I7 4770K
Memory: Patriots 16GB 2400Mhz (8gb*2)
PSU: EVGA SuperNova G2 1000w
GFX: Geforce 8800GT

I tested the PSU to make sure its not a defect with the paperclip method. It got continuous spin.

I looked for shorts, on the copper mounts where the motherboard sits on, looking for loose screws if there is any, and making sure no wires touching part where its not to be at.

I went down to one memory stick and jumper onto every slot. Then rotated to the other memory stick. Problem still persist.

Took out the CPU 12v cable from board, system ran continuous, but the led won't change past 00. Might be a bad CPU?

Took out the CPU, Board boots up, LED red on the CPU side.

Need a 2nd, 3rd, or 20th opinion on this. Want to make sure I'm right on the ball before moving on. Been working on this for 2 days so far.

Have you plugged both the main power supply connection 24 pin. And also the 4 or 8 pin power. On that board the CPU fan will spin with only the 24pin power cable pluggeg in. Both the 24 ( main power connection ) and the 4 or 8 pin (depending on power supply used) must be used to make the mb post. On that particular board the 8 power input is located in the top left of the CPU.
I had an instance where the 4 pin from my power supply was not seated and the CPU fan would run but would not boot up.
Worth a check.
Hope this helps. I think I remember reading the manual that it says Don't forget to plug the 4/8 pin power or system won't boot.

what ... a 8800GT...and water cooling system.... try to take out the video card and just boot with the on board video to see what happen...If still not work take the MB outside the case and test use just the MB / CPU / RAM with power supply to see it work or not ... just temporary use the original fan

do you try to take out the board and do it outside the case with just MB / CPU / RAM with only Power Supply...If just these 4 item an still not work take out the cpu and see any pin on the board have issue..

If you have just MB / CPU / Original Fan / Memory / Power Supply and is not working ... that means one of these item have issue... Can you have other parts to swap ... for Power Supply the test method is very basic .. just test it is on or off.. but you don't have the power tester to see the current...
make sure all the USB / audio / SATA is disconnected ONLY Connect the Power Switch Cable...

I've just done that with the latest bios ver. Still a no go

By the information you provide ... nothing I can confirm.... I want to say is the CPU mostly ... unless your both memory has problem . or your power supply work but voltage is not stable... Main Board looks like is working ... I really hate to use water cooling ...if you say you already try to use original fan to test then we eliminate that part.... Take out the board from the case also eliminate any bad contact .... Make sure no HD /SSD / Optical Device is connected

I assume you connect all the cable from the power supply to the board in right position ... and the cooling fan is connected to the CPU Fan plug .... Any other parts you can switch ?

It was CPU. I don't why it was bad, but I rarely get them every once in a blue moon. Replaced and POSTed. Thanks everyone.

I replaced the motherboard on an existing system and it did the same thing rebooting every few seconds. The operating system was installed with the old motherboard BIOS set to IDE and the new motherboard defaults to SATA. You have to set the BIOS to IDE so it will boot then change the windows registry from IDE to SATA then go back and set the BIOS back to SATA. Hope this helps.

Is it appropriate in these forums to piggy back on a resolved case if you have the exact same problem?
Asus Z97 Deluxe, Intel 4790k, GSkill RAM (on the QVL).

Motherboard will not POST. Fans spin up and then fail. No beeps. No lights, except for the RESET and POWER buttons on the Motherboard itself. If I enable switches (TPM,XMP), then those light up.

I have tried:
MOBO inside the case
MOBO out of the case, on an anti-static surface

2 power supplies
2 CPUs (4790k and a G3220). Both are on QVL.
4 sticks of G.Skill 8GB of RAM in all sockets. On QVL.
1 stick of G.Skill 8GB of RAM in socket A2. On QVL.
Successfully flashed BIOS from USB from original (801) to newest, 1203. (Based on the Flash back LED)

Nothing has ever changed the behavior of the board when attempting to POST.

Is there any way this is NOT just a defective motherboard?
This reminds me of 10-15 years ago when POST would fail because no CPU Fan was detected -- but I have that plugged in to the correct location, as well.

I can't POST far enough to even see a screen. There is no way to set up the BIOS.
I tried each stick of RAM independently, in slot A2.

Nvidia Quadro 5000 graphic card recognition problem with ASUS Z97 Deluxe Motherboard, I have to use the HDMI to boot and install the card won't be recognised.

Motherboard: ASUS Z97 Deluxe
CPU: Intel i7 4790K
PowerSupply: Corsair RM850 Gold
VideoCard: Navidia Quadro 5000
Hard Drive: Samsung 840 PRO SSD 500Gb
Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 2x4Gb

I have tried everything for this board to recognise my card and it just won't do it I installed Windows 7 64bit and Windows 8.1.

Anyone having this same problem please get back to me.
