Asus z97a not displaying to monitor

So I just started building this pc yesterday, and have not been able to get anything to disay on the monitor, I'm using an i5 4690k CPU, I tried it first with my MSI GeForce gtx 970, and then took that out and tried holing it up into the mobo, and still nothing, does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

I have the exact same motherboard and no issue. Try using a different graphics card (besides igpu and gtx 970).

Did you recheck all your work and connections on the motherboard?

Do you have your cpu 8-pin power plugged in?

This would be a good thing for me to know as well since I have a Z97 A Asus and a MSi GTX970 that I'm about to put together.

Did not have the 8 pin could power socket plugged in, I feel silly now, we now have the monitor up and running, thanks for the help
