I've just put together an Z97i-Plus with an i7 4790K (I will NOT be overclocking at any point ever). I'm in the process of installing the software. I'm trying to be careful so I've been referring to the internet for the best process to follow which has left me a little confused.
(1) I started by installing Windows 7 from a disc
(2) Netgear wifi from a disc (this gave me internet access)
(3) avast antivirus (from the internet)
(4) several installation updates for windows (with several restarts) to the point that no more updates are available.

Now I'm at the point of installing the motherboard drivers. Some comments condemn using the CD that came with the motherboard and recommend going straight to the Asus website and getting the latest downloads. This is the Asus link to the motherboard drivers:
http://www.asus.com/support/Download/1/45/6/9/dSzRyfw1fmZHgfRu/30/

I'm assuming that I will follow the sequence of installation as it appears on the list (taking the most recent update from each) starting from BIOS, BIOS Utilities, Chipset, Audio, VGA, .... straight through to the last on the list : Bluetooth.
If anyone has any criticism or advice on that process please leave your comments.

Secondly; there are 2 categories I'm unsure if (or what ) I should download:
(a) BIOS Utilities - there are 3 downloads - is there anything needed here that I MUST download
(b) Utilities - 20 downloads - what do really NEED from this category

I would be grateful for any comments of feedback on anything I have done so far and the best path to follow to complete the set-up.

Ignore BIOS for now if you don't have any problems. Read up on how to update your BIOS with ASUS motherboards so you know what to do next time.
With drivers, you most likely need:
Chipset, Audio, Lan driver for ethernet, USB 3.0, Wireless and Bluetooth.
In Utilities, these are optional. Read up on what each utility does and decide yourself if you want to use them.
Example if you want to use the ASUS AI Suite 3 then download and install it.

Thank you Suztera - I've gone step by step through the list installing each driver and rebooting after each installation (I've ignored BIOS, BIOS Utilities, and Utilities for now).
I think most have installed correctly, BUT the Wifi does not appear to have installed. It seems the latest Wifi driver includes the Bluetooth driver aswell. Using the AutoSetup, the installation appears to install the Bluetooth drivers and it shows up in Programs and Features as WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software. Nothing appears there that would indicate that the wifi is installed
I then went into the Wifi folder from the driver download and clicked the AutoSetup from there - it didn't appear to install from there either.
Then I went back and downloaded the prior driver from the website and still it does not appear to have installed.

Is there something I'm missing that you may know off?
