I've been stuck for the last few years with Hughesnet because that's been the only option for internet service is my area. Recently I went on to the At&t website and according to their coverage map, I'm able to get U-verse. How accurate is this? I live down a mile long private road and it seems too good to be true. I'm planning on calling them at the end of the month.

Solution
What is touted as "Uverse" in some areas is pretty measly DSL service coupled with Direct TV satellite service. You need to verify the actual services offered. Good luck.
Sometimes, the web database is not accurate, sure way to know is to call them. I know, the horror of actually talking to a live person. :) and before you get too excited, ask what speeds they are selling, and if they quote you something too good to be true, ask them how far from your house is the CO (exchange junction), or is there a recently install u-verse junction.
