There are some minor technical differences in terms of "strict technical information" about them, but I usually consider them to be the same thing. No big differences.

Correct. If you get a new drive that is ATA100 then it will come with a 80wire 40pin cable.

Actually, if you're buying OEM, most places won't give you a cable. But if you're buying retail, it should come with one.
