ATA 100 drives need to run at ATA100 with a motherboard which supports ATA100. Some boards support ATA 100 RAID and this will allow certain RAID configurations. Others would need a RAID controller card installed.
Unless you are considering RAID, just look for a mobo with "ATA 100" or "UDMA100".
I'm sure Crashman would explain this more fully.(He answered a few RAID questions for me)
