I hope you can help with this problem I can't seem to understand. I recently downgraded a laptop from Vista to Windows XP SP2. It is a Compaq Presario CQ60-418dx. Everything went smoothly and its wireless would connect to my wireless internet. So I thought all was well.. I gave it back to my friend and he said it hangs up on acquiring network address. I have googled my heart out trying to find a solution to this problem. The only difference I can state between my wireless and his is mine is Open and he has a WPA(I believe it always went to WPAsk or WPApk) We also tried it at a friend of ours who has WPA and to the same results. I have tried to repair the connection. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. I have thought about trying on the HP Wireless Utility and giving that a go but does anyone know if I am missing something??? I do not understand why it would work on my wireless and not his.
