Athlon 2400+

I have an EPOX 8K7A with AMD 760 and a Thunderbird 1400.I want to buy an Athlon 2400+.Officially the motherboard support till 2200+.Is there any chance that the 2400+ will work?And if it does, will it work as 2400 or 2200?
