hello all!
well have a few questions for this processor.

A freind give me his sister's old computer with a:
(pcchips)m805lr motherboard/socket a socket 462 athlon
800 mhz thunderbird processor.

I'm looking to upgrade the old m.b. with a newer board
(biostar m7viz via km400.with ddr for 42.00 buck's.

I did some reserch on it,And it will suport this 800 mhz processor with I'm guessing ddr266mhz ram chip's. y or n?

or could i bump it up to ddr 333 mhz ram chip's.

Is it looking like a melt down or what? with ddr ram.
heat sink: cool masscool 5f287b1l3gl.

I'm looking for a board more suited for this processor 800 mhz.,and upgradeing to biostar board with the athlon xp 2800+ (barton)but for the time being I was wanting to run the thunderbird till I found a m.b.for it.while i wait for the xp barton to get here.

thank's for any input you could give me.

If the old board still works, I wouldn't upgrade. You won't notice much performance improvement. If you buy memory, get pc3200. Most boards will run it at the slower speeds, what the board is capable of. Then you'll have faster memory for your next upgrade. I would save your money for a socket 754 upgrade, whether sempron or athlon 64. I found a combo special at Fry's (outpost.com) and it works great. It was not much more than socket a.

01die!
well the pcchip m.b. died.about 2 month's ago.just got me wondering how that 800 mhz chip would react to the ddr ram.
maybe with an ovc to 1 ghz.the biostar only support's up to
ddr pc 2700 333mhz. ram.

wusy!
how stable is it 1.2-1.3ghz?
sound's a bit much to squeeze out of the 800mhz chip
going to go with the thermalight slk-900a with 92mm fan.
and do some tweeking.

thank's guy's for the info.

'im new to ovc!not gamer!
I desided to hold of on the biostar m7viz m.b..I went to computer geeks.com,and found some board's more in my price range for the athlon 800mhz thuderbird.here they are.

support ddr 1600,2000 30.00 buck's

biostar m7mia atx amd 761 w/sound no video (board only) ddr 1600,2000 24.00 buck's

syntax sv266ad atx viakt266 w/sound ddr 1600,2000 everything included.cabels,software/manual. 24.00 buck's
