Hi,

i want to know the standard core and i/o voltage for an athlon thunderbird 800 MHz (Socket A).
I also want to know what voltage to use if it is overclocked to 1GHz.

thanks!

standard CoreV, is, I believe, 1.7 or 1.75.

to Overclock to 1Ghz, You must increase your CoreV to it's Max, the higher you get it to go, the higher your CPU clock could be. most BOARD, will stop at 1.85, however there are some way of modifying(soldering) the board to give a CoreV higher than 2. Depending on your Chip, green TB800 should most likely be able to HIT 1Ghz with 1.85v. however for it to be 100%stable probably 950.

regarding the I/O the standard is 3.3, here is the thing. overclocking an AMD usually modify the Multiplier instead of the FSB. I/O is your basic input/output, that is also in regard to your RAM voltage. so if you are OC the FSB, you might need to feed your RAM more voltage.

Here is another catch to that, I have an ABIT KT7 board, IF you increase the I/O you will see a SLIGHT decrease in the CoreVoltage. for instance, i have mine set on

CoreV: 1.85 and my PC HEALTH is SHOWING: 1.88
I/O: 3.3 Showing: 3.29

CoreV: 1.85 Showing: 1.87
I/O: 3.4 Showing: 3.38

vis-versa I/0: 3.2 Showing CoreV: 1.89
