I currently only can game at the max resolution of 1280x1024 (not seeing an upgrade for awhile there) and wondering that since games are becoming more threaded, if i will see any decent boost in FPS at all.

My current setup is
athlon x4 645 (3.1ghz) win 8.1
600w PSU
MSI R9 270
6GB Ram

Only reason I ask is that my Mobo can only upgrade to the thuban 1065t at max (won't handle the 1090t) and wondering if it will last me for awhile longer at my current gaming setup for stable 30 FPS on medium/high settings then the random 15-40 i get now.

I can grab the 955BE for 50 or the 1055t for 100. I was looking at a new mobo and the 8120 but don't know what i can do with a sub 400 budget given what i run my games at.

The R9 270 is a decent card for 1080p gaming, upgrading the CPU will definitely increase performance I suggest you get something like FX-6300 or if you can get something like I5 4460, even an I3 will be boost your FPS.

You suggesting I get a new board/cpu then? I want to know if i'll see a good enough boost from the 1055t or 955be before doing so as I can't do 1080p gaming currently (1280x1024 max resolution of both my monitors) so the extra power will be kind of moot atm.

Hi sorry for the delay, if you're not planning to upgrade your current resolution then you're just fine with what you've got now. The 1055t is a nice upgrade for multitasking programs since it's a 6 core CPU but for gaming I don't think you'll notice much of a difference maybe 3-5 FPS more.

Don't know if its worth it, but i just upgraded to a 8350 with a mobo and CPU cooler for 150 all in.looking for a new case to fit the board as its ATX not matx

Well the 8350 is a great upgrade from the Athlon and for 150 you've got a pretty good deal, what's the name of the mobo by the way ?

M5A99FX PRO R2.0

That's a decent motherboard it supports SLI & Crossfire and loads of features it really is a decent motherboard, I'm impressed with that price for all, I think you'll enjoy your new build as it is quite an improvement over your old one, you might as well add a 1080p monitor later on.

Well the caveat is, they have been used for a year.
