Well, I have tried it. I did place my xp 1800+ in an OEM MSI board and it boots just fine. I am not however willing to do a hard mod on the chip for there is no need with my current board that the xp normally resides in.

Not quite.

Sometime in Q1 the Northwood, and Thououghbred will appear, with Hammer not far behind. This will drive down the prices on the XP quite a bit, as P4 prices will fall as well. The $250 processor may very well be $150 then. Enough to make up for the cost of a motherboard.

If you are on very tight finances, it only makes sense to wait.
