ATI 280x vs 290

My system is a:
Corsair Vengeance 70 case
Asus Maximus Hero 7 Motherboard
i5 4670k 3.4 Processor
Cooler Master RS-650-PCAR-E3 (current power supply with or after GPU) non module
1333 samsung x 4 @ 2gb (current ram Last to be updated maybe even a SSD before)
Seagate Barricude 2tb
XFX HD 5770 ATI card (current card next to be replaced)

I was planning on getting a ATI r9 280X but was wondering if its worth it to get a 290 instead? any insight would be help a good deal.

Well, it's better. So yeah, if you have the extra money to spend then it's worth it, that's kinda trivial.
