hi, ive recently bought an ati radeon hd 4670 1gb gddr2.. and i use it first in a computer with the following specs:

Intel core 2 duo 2.7ghz
mother asus (dont know the model)
2gb ddr2
256 gb hard disk
windows 7 ultimate 32 bit

and the performance of the card was great!

but then i change the graphic card to another computer (my computer in fact) and the performance decreased a lot

my computer has the following specs:

amd athlon II x4 2.6ghz
mother asrock n68-s
4gb ddr2
320 gb hard disk plus 1 tb hard disk
windows 7 ultimate x64

any answer to why the graphic card performance decreased in a better (for me) computer?

thanks in advance.

Flavio

ps: sorry for my english im from argentina.

Did gou get tricked by the seller? An 600MHz core + 64-Bit Bandwidth is the specifications of the lower-end 4650.

Also, I just checked on the internet and it reminded me that your card only has 320 shader cores while mine has 480. That would give lower performance, but not that much...

Get an HD 6670 or an HD 6770, those are really cheap (~80$ and ~120$ respectively) and are the best bang for the buck...

An 6670 is the best card if you don't want any 4/6-Pin connectors, and works with every types of PSU. (300W+)
An 6770 is an better card than the 6670, but requires an 6-Pin connector and you will need an 450W PSU.

Are you sure that you are Only looking at the graphics section? Because there is an CPU score too, if your CPU is less powerful than the others, it may gives a lower oveall score. (3DMark calculates the GPU's and the CPU's score and puts them together to form an overall score)

hi again! i dont know if i was tricked by the seller, it cames with warranty and all ... and the card is the one it must be... i would buy one of those cards, but here in my country the prices for them are 100% more, sad but true!

tomorrow i will change the card and see what happens with the new one!

thanks again!

hi again! this was the problem... Ati is developing some 4670 cards that are 64bit! something confusing but if you think a little you can see why is this for (cof cof Money and trickering cof) so i ask a refund (i think thats the word xD) and then i buyed a 6670 1gb ddr3. didnt buy ddr5 because i didnt have enough money (maybe is u$10 more in usa but in Argentina is like u$30 more, and thats an appreciable quantity of money here). But im glad with the card, i compare the results of my card and yours on gpu viewers caps, and they are very close! your card win in some cases, but mine wins in others and that surprise me! later if somebody wants i will put the results just to help the community in cases where they dont know what to buy.

again thank you very much for all your help!

Just as an side-info, the 6670 GDDR3 perform very similarly as the 6670 GDDR5, but it is limited in some case by its memory bandwidth, especially in high resolutions (1080p).

GPU Power = Better for graphics. (And GPGPU Computing)
Memory Bandwidth = Better for High Resolutions and AA. (Sometimes for High Res Textures.)

Also, an 6670 is an good overclocker (Even if the GDDR5 overclocks better), an Memory Overclock on the HD 6670 GDDR3 affects much more than an Core Overclock, but don't push it too far, since there isn't a heatsink for the memory chips in most retail models. (They overheat easily)

As far as I know, I can overclock my card to 900Mhz Core / 1050Mhz Memory and it stays stable in most games with ~20fps gain. (The Max Overclock without damaging your GPU is 950Mhz Core / 1150Mhz Memory, but I don't recommend overclocking too far since it causes crashes and in rare cases, an Voltage Regulator burn.)

An known overclocking tool is AtiTool. (You can use an auto-detect function that will tell you your max stable Overclock.)

Hope it helps! And good luck. :)

thank you!!! i will try that later to win some more frames in gta IV haha
