Ati 5670 and 1920x1080p?

Hello there,I am a new guy here(i am also a newbie about hardware),I want to make a choice about a new system that I want to get and I really need your help.I have read some topics of your forum but I still can't decide,so:
The system I can afford consists of a cpu intel core i3@2.93,4gb ram 1333mhz,gigabyte h55 motherboard and ATI 5670 and one 19' LCD monitor.I would like to get a better mnonitor 22'LCD with full hd but then will I be able to play most games on high with this graphic card???(at 1920x1080 resolution)And also would it be a good choice to get a better monitor or not???

You'd be able to play most games reasonably well, the ATI 5670 isn’t a great enthusiast video card, you should be looking at a minimum of a 5750/5770 if you are serious about playing today's games. Ideally you should be looking at the 5830, 5850, 5870 etc.

When you say today's games what do you mean?(name me some of them)
Well,if I could afford 5750 is this motherboard(h55 gigabyte) compatible with this graphic card?Also the psu seems to have no problem.

There will be no compatibility problems as long as the motherboard has a PCI-E x16 slot the video card will work. All modern motherboards have PCI-E slots.

Like I said the 5750 is the minimum you should get, 1920x1080p is a high resolution so you need a high end video card i.e. 58xx series for that resolution with high detail. The 5750 is only midrange and is designed for slightly lower resolutions.

I'm talking about intensive games, like Battlefield Bad Company 2, Crysis, FarCry 2 etc as well as the upcoming games like R.U.S.E., StarCraft 2, Crysis 2, Supreme Commander 2 etc

Though I am not interested in these games...I would prefer devil may cry 4,call of duty modern warfare 2 etc etc,so I think I will be alright at full resolution,right?.I could still be able to play the games you mentioned at a lower resolution,or not?And if I get some cash I will upgrade my pc in the future.Can u also propose me a monitor to buy?

It will play most games reasonably well depending on their system requirements. Where is this machine coming from? and do you have options with it? Wasn't sure if it was a dell, hp, etc or someone or yourself is building it.

Ideally for the 1920x1080 you would start with a 5770. They run about $150 in the US. The next step up, skipping the 5830 because I think its a strange card, would be a 5850 at double the cost.

yes, with the games you mentioned the 5670 will struggle at high resolutions.

also, most 22" monitors are 1680x1050. typically you have to move up to a 24" to get the 1920x1200 (or 1080) resolution.

Yeah they have been making 22" panels with 1920x1080 lately. It started with the larger displays and worked down. The 5670 would work pretty well at 19" but at 1920x1080 you will not be able to run at very high settings. Maybe in older games. MW2 wouldn't be to bad because it uses a 3year old engine.

Now what about 1680x1050??this is 1764000 pixels what about now?Am I still pushing 5670 to it's knees??

It will REALLY depend on the game. I was able to play COD4 in a 4670 with high detail but AA and AF turned off. This was on a 1680x1050 display. a 5670 would do much better and MW2 uses the same engine as COD4. However, some games will really put a hurting on a 5670.

I have 2 buddies running a 5770 on a 17" display and they can max out most games. That is 1280x1024. If they went to a 1920x1080 they would have to turn down some settings but still decent graphics.

Honestly if you were sticking with the 5670 I would stay with the 19" if you want turn up the graphics. It will still be playable on a 22" either res, but you will end up on low-med settings depending on the game with AA and AF turned off. It all depends on what kind of gaming experience you want.

I'm not sure where you are from, but in the US the difference in price from a 5670 and 5770 is only $50. The cost of a single game. Granted you need a better power supply for the 5770, but that's a given.

By the way,I am for Europe,not US!I made my choice I will pass with 5770 😉 thanks u really helped me!About the monitopr I will chosse the bigger one.I won't buy 58xx series,maybe in the future,just for upgrade..

The 5770 is really the mainstream card to get. It will give you a 50-100% increase over the 5670 performance. They are also very overclockable if you want to venture down that road. Even a moderate OC will give you a nice boost. I think you will be much happier with your choice. Game On!.

You should be able to play most games with reasonable performance with the HD 5670 @ 1920 x 1080 resolution if you keep graphics quality settings to medium. Of course "reasonable performance" varies from person to person.

If you can stretch your budget to buy a HD 5750, then do so since it will provide a boost in performance.

And $20 more will get you a 5770 Then after that is where it jumps alot to a 5830, which i don't even like. And then $300+ for a 5850.
