I have a GeForce 2 TI, and I'm upgrading to a Radeon 8500LE (64MB-DDR) What differences will I notice?

I hear you can over clock these good...I'm <i>very</i> into stability, so how much should I overclock it to keep full stability?

What kind of comp do you have? No matter what it is though I'm sure you'll get quite a bit of performance increase. By the way, if you haven't ordered yet, I'd wait a bit. First off. The 64MB version may not be the smartest choice. For an extra $25US you can get the 128MB version and they can beat the R8500 64MB sometimes. There is no way the 8500LE 64MB will beat the normal 8500. Also, the normal 8500 64MB is only $5 more than a LE. Also if you can wait a bit, go and get a Ti4200 in like a month. They can easily beat out all Radeons right now and it'll push all of these card prices down to keep them competitive. The Ti4200 may be more expense though. (like $170 when they first come out, then... who knows. Probably around $150 after a couple weeks.)

Thanks for you advice.

Alas, I brought it home tonight and it sucked. 🙁

The resolutions available in Windows were limited. I could no longer run @ 1280x960 (ATI doesn't like that res for some reason).
I tried downloading a res fixxer, so I <i>could</i> run the 1280x960 res, but it was VERY interlaced. I just returned the card.

I think I will stick to nVidia, ATI has lost all my respect. And I was hoping to be pleased.

you know...it could have been a driver conflict that prevented you from running at that res.
nvidia drivers have a nasty habit of not leaving when you want them too (ie...when you uninstall the drivers...they still leave some files unmoved).
even when updating nvidia drivers...the new ones conflict with the old one (even after uninstalling the old ones)...
so...for all you know...the ATI card was perfectly fine but the only thing wrong with it was that it had to work with leftover nvidia drivers...

<b><font color=red>ATI</font color=red>'s drivers are like a broken faucet, they both keep on leaking...</b> 😎

radeon 8500 le is upto 15 to 30 % fast in 1280 by 1024 resolution when playing MAX PAYNE it has almost no performance drop with aniostropic filtering it has some best image quality in 2d.it can easily overclock to 275/275 mhz for memory and core (its my experience).and 8500 le with 128mb can beat the regular 8500 with 64mb on stock speads.after all this you can get a 8500le 64mb around 225 cdn $.only take care of one thing, the drivers.dont use the drivers along the card (version 6.....)cause it sucks.upgrade to to version 7.68 and everything works fine.
One thing is for sure ones ATI got some good programmers( like me) then the radeon 8500 can kick all the nvidia geforce gpus including geforce 4 5 6 or any upcoming geforce.

Are you guys saying that if I used this card with the 7.68 drivers, and removed all of nVidia's old drivers, then I can run in Windows at 1280x960x32 @ 72HRz?

I'll put the card back in my machine if that's the case.

One other question.

What is the nVidia equivalent of the Radeon 8500LE (64MB-DDR)?

Nothing really. Nvidia had their GF4MX, but they don't have full DX8 support and the R8500LE does. The closest thing Nvidia will have to it wil be the Ti4200 64MB when it comes out.

dang... reciprocity is true too.

if <b>you know</b> <font color=white>you don't know<i><font color=black>, the way could be more easy ...<font color=red>
