Actually if you PM Fredi and he finds it worthy he'll likely make it a sticky there. He's got the wherewithal to see if it's worthy. You need to link the thread so he knows what you're talking about without having to hunt for it.
As for 3Dmk03, don't believe the hype. It's not as bad as people make it out to be, it definitely did what it intended to do originally (not supposed to emulate a game or a abunch of games, but simply stress/test DX hardware [including audio]). It exposed an early weakness with the FX and their PS2.0 shader strength which alot of people moaned about and said it was proof of crapitude, when in fact it was simply looking over the horizon. It had such an impact that nV took it seriously enough to floptimize for it.
Sure it's inefficient maybe, but really, that's kind of a requirement for what it's trying to do. Efficiency, especially optomized efficiency simply favours those who get special attention, which wouldn't be fair to people like XGI (who can really use all the help they can get

), and it tends to show the raw power BEFORE all the fl-optimizations take effect. Optimizing is GREAT for games, but not the best for all tests. My preference would be two runs made by the test, one that disables the optimizations, or has a way of minimizing them (this would be the 'official runs', and another that allows all manner of optimizations (for e-penis scores). That would be a good solution, and people could decide which they think holds more wieght in their mind. Right now those that like system benchies tend to stick with 3Dmk01 and those who prefer benchies that focus more on card and drivers (you know like the magazine/tv show
😎 ) use 3Dmk03. It's really just a tool set and like everything it doesn't tell the whole story, hopefully just enough for you (or at least some people) to get some valuable information out of it.
It's flawed, I will grant you that; I'm not here to defend it outright, but I find it funny so many people sayng it doesn't play like a game, well no it doesn't, but then again sysmark/pcmark/etc. don't run like WORD/EXCEL/LAME or Premiere either. And they specifically said in their white paper released before the benchmark that that was not what it was setting out to do.
As for inefficient/poorly coded games, well just ask Eden about his feelings for Splinter Cell, or some others about CS

. While 3Dmk03's coding issues may be seen as a beloved patriot in the armour, really it still functions fairly consistently and still performs it's main task pretty well (by it's standards, even if not by some other's [like [H] for example]). Te difference is that 3Dmk03 isn't trying to go for immersion or realism (although mother OF ALL nature is nice
😎 to look at), whereas the slightest glitch in a game can ruin it's effects, and detract from the game.
Anywhoo, just wanted to add my 2 cents on that because I think too often 3Dmk03 take heat for something it was never intended to do. That being said, I hope they do think about alot of the criticism and address it with their next release. My favourite addition would be the 2 distinct runs, well that and maybe some nudity, or at least a way to 'un-wrap' the maiden in distress
😎 , but I want to stress, NOT MALE nudity! (sorry for those of you who like that, I'm just expressing my op-onion)

.
Ok, now time to EARN my paycheque. If that's possible.
