Popular Turkish website Donanimhaber has released an expected schedule for the release of ATI's Radeon HD 6000 series. The first HD 6000 GPU to be released will be the Radeon HD 6700 series, codenamed Barts. The HD 6700 is scheduled for a release as early as October. As suggested by the nomenclature, the HD 6700 will directly replace the HD 5700 series.

The HD 6700 release will be followed up by Cayman in November, expected to be branded as the ATI Radeon HD 6800 series, replacing the current HD 5800 series.

The flagship will be Antilles, and branded as the ATI Radeon HD 6970. Antilles, as expected, will be a dual-GPU Cayman. While the HD 5970 lowers clock speeds from the HD 5870, HD 6970 is expected to feature the same clock speeds as the HD 6870 - basically a HD 6870 in CF. This will be much like the HD 4870 X2. The Radeon HD 6970 is scheduled for December.

I've corrected my comment, I meant a 6850. However depending upon pricing I may be swayed to buy a 5870 when the price drop comes, I'm not too certain, Either way its a massive upgrade from my 9800GT, but atleast with a 6850 it has newer features and I get bragging rights 😉

Yes, there's expected to be a 6970 and 6950, The 6950 isn't expected to be released until the 6970 actually gets competition however (this is the same case as the 5xxx series but seeing as theres no competition for the 5970 theres no need to release a 5950)

The 6970 is effectively going to be 2x 5870's on a single PCB according to what I've heard.

for the time being there are so little info about hd 6000 series even its going to the market later this year... i don't knw hw gud 6850 will be but i assume it should be better if not alot better than hd 5000 series... i'm also eyeing the hd 6000 series....
despite just purchased a gtx 460 1gb recently.... this card is really bang for buck!!!!
just hopefully when the hd 6000 series is out... there will be less driver issues with that series....

Yes, as we all hope.
However the current benchmarks released (assumed 5870) suggest a 25~30% increase of performance at stock(assumed again)

But for all we know it could be a 5850 benchmark? that would be awesome!

Possible 6870? Seems within reason. Interestingly enough, the memory bandwidth is actually a greater increase over the 5870, than the 5870 was over the 4870. 5870 was 153 GB/s, 4870 was 115 GB/s. This shows this possible 6870 at over 200 GB/s, for a 33% increase over the 5870. This is within the realm of reason, however id believe maybe 25% more easily. If its true though, very promising for AMD. For those who failed in math, 4870 to 5870 was 30% increase. Might be a fake, but who knows.

Nah im not buying it, I'm thinking its marketing BS to try and stop people falling on the ever improving GTX 460. Everyone who knows anything has been saying that we wont get too much performance boost and then here we are with a card showing huge numbers, convenient isn't it 😀

If those leaked benchmarks are right, the 6000 series will rock. Once again, Nvidia is in serious trouble. I just bought a 5850 three months ago, so I will probably pass on the 6000 cards. The 5850 should be good for another year or two.

Yes, If nvidia can only get there last generation finaly rolled out at the start of ATI next generation they really are screwed, Considering the last ATI generation is still pretty kickass...

I read somewhere that some alleged benchmarks of ATI's Radeon HD 6870 show that is it actually faster than the HD 5970!

I find this hard to believe. Mainly because as far as to my knowledge, no testable Northern Island prototype exists yet. Whatever HD 6870 benchmark, assuming it's not fake, was probably the 40nm "Southern Island".

Maybe Two HD 6970's in CrossfireX can run Crysis on 2560x1600 with 8x AA and all the other graphics settings cranked as high as they can go, and we'll have 75+ FPS.

How do you work that then ? Do you know what the high end Nvidia cards will be ?
You need to remember that the Bandwidth doesn't really mean anything. The 4770 has 51.2 GB/sec and the 5670 has 64 GB/sec on the spec sheets but the 4770 is easily the faster card.
Even if those screen shots are legit then Nvidia are still ok the next top end card is rumoured to be a dual card and they can easily get a card with the same Gbs/sec without any power worries.

Got the benchmark link?

Oh and you spelt Metro 2033 with a 'C', 'r', 'y','s','i', and another 's'. :)

Crysis graphically still looks better than Metro 2033, tesselation combined with extremely high resolutions are what kills the framerate in Metro.

It's also even more poorly coded than Crysis.

Just a joke man :) although some may argue that metro looks better than Crysis as its a matter of opinion. I think they both look great in there own way, and I would also say they are both badly coded.

Personally I think BFBC2 on Max looks very similar to Crysis on Max, though the frame rates are completely different. :)

oohhh so the ferrari, the lambo, the aston martin, using your analogy, are very poor cars then?
