[SOLVED] ATI Radeon HD 4870 PCI-E - Replacement options?

Hello,
I think my card is dead... PC Boots up but blank screen after initial "splash screen". I can hear windows start noise and the fans are running etc. but no visual (my monitor "thinks" its connected but black screen.

It is an OLD PC (2009) , I need to replace it but I will need some time to consider what I want and I want to have a working PC while I do so. Still running windows 7 (I know, I know)

Intel i7-920 2.66GHZ
ASUS P6 x58 motherboard

This is desktop used for web browsing, media server and that's pretty much it, no special needs

I have been having problems with it lately (Crashing) and while looking into possible issues the card seems to have failed.

I was hoping for some recommendations on a low cost solution to get me through another month or two while I choose a replacement PC.

Will just about any PCIE card do the trick? I see some out there for ~$40:

Do not get HD 5450 since it's far worse than your current HD 4870,

For a cheap but better GPU, look towards GT 1030,

While for web browsing, the HD 5450 and GT 710 will do, it's the media part that i'm worried about since you'll get worse performance with either of the two, compared what you had.

With that CPU you can go even higher than that. I got a Core 2 Quad running on 4.1 GHz in another system paired with a GTX 660 Ti and they work pretty well together (depending on the games it can be one or the other the limiting factor)
Since that i7-920 is faster (especially when you've got it oc'ed) you could probably pair with with a GTX 960/1050/1050 Ti/R9 290/RX470 or similar and have a good pairing depending on the games.

If it's just for showing a picture basically any PCIe card will do the trick, but getting something efficient might be desirable.
A DDR4 GT 1030 might be the best solution. Replacing a 150W card with a 20W card sounds like a good idea. Or see if you can find a GTX 750 or R7 250, which should also do the job.
