ATI X1600XT Replacement for Windows 8

I have an HP Compaq DC7600 desktop with an ATI X1600XT DH FH PCIe x16 graphics card with 2 DVI outputs. The specs do not show a GEN level so I assume that it is 1.0. There are no Windows 8 drivers so I want a replacement card with similar capabilities.

I dual boot Windows 7 & Windows 8 so I need a card that has drivers for both OSs

After about 6 hours of research I finally ordered a "Stealth Radeon HD 4350 512MB DDR2 PCIe Graphics Card" by Diamond.

The main reason I selected the 4350 card is that it only requires a 300 watt power supply. My PC has a 365 watt power supply.
Also, I needed a PCIe 2.0 card so that it is backwards compatible with my PCIe 1.0 slot.

I ordered the card from Amazon for $59.99 and I will be installing it later this week. I will try to remember to update this post with my results.

I am happy to report that this graphics card installed very easily in my HP Compaq dc7600 Convertible Minitower.

I had a little trouble pulling out the original Radeon x600xt card. I didn't expect that I would have to pull so hard.

Windows 8 drivers for it but I installed the Catalyst drivers that came with the card. I did not notice any difference.

Windows 7 did not have a driver so I was in 640 x 480 mode until I installed the Catalyst drivers. Now the Windows 7 display looks as good as the Windows 8.

I do not play games so I cannot comment on that.

I had read some reviews about this card that said it the fan is very noisy. I still have the cover off and I barely notice it.

My original ATI X1600XT card had two DVI outputs. The HD 4350 card has one DVi and one VGA output.
