Hi, so just today i have been getting the BSOD frequently in the past hour or so and only really have enough time on the computer to post this before it will go again. I had just about enough time to see the "atikmdag.sys" part of the blue screen before it restarted. Anyone know what this is?

Solution
If you have the current graphics card and get a bugcheck when starting a game. You want to check: are all of the power connectors to the graphics card connected. Many modern graphics cards get power from 3 sources:
The graphics slot from the mother board, and 1 or 2 power connectors from the power supply directly to the graphics card. check to make sure they are connected and providing power, and also that if you have two supplemental power connectors make sure they come from two separate sources on the power supply.

The second most common failure is when you run a current graphics card and driver but you have windows 7 installed but have not installed the service pack 1 and its updates. Current graphics drivers require service...

Thanks for answering. So I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers for the card and that fixed the problem of it going to a blue screen every 15 mins but now when i open a game it blue screens. I'm really not sure whats wrong with it. This graphics card has caused more trouble than its worth.

-You want to make sure you get the graphic drivers directly from the AMD website. (in case you used the ones that came with your machine)
-you also want to make sure that you are not running any overclocking software for your graphics card.
- if you have a older machine, make sure the graphic card fans are spinning and blow out the dust.
- if this is a new card, make sure the supplemental power connections are connected from the graphics card directly to the power supply.

Hi, thanks for the reply so i got the drivers and re installed them. Everything seemed fine, it works just browsing the web and things like that but as soon as a game starts up it will start to freeze and then the blue screen will appear again. I installed new drivers for a second time and I still have this issue. I'm not really sure what to do now. I also made sure I wasn't overclocking or anything like that and that the fans were working fine. I'm only unsure about the power supply connection because I put all the cables in the side of the case so it's hard to see which cables are going where.

Hi thanks for the reply. No I don't have either, that's what's making it so hard to see what the issue is.

So far it has for cs:go and hasn't for batman arkham origins I'm going to try some more games tomorrow but I have been using cs:go as a tester and I've only just realised that some other games work.
