so right now my router is plugged into the att modem/router and my personal router is doing all the work. but what if i used the att router just as a guest access point and used my router for everything else. theyre both on 2.4 ghz but on different channels. will they still interfere and am i still better off just using one router over both. i had just my personal router set up with the guest ap but i couldnt make it a different channel form my own so i decided to try this. any advice?

Solution
Well it introduces complications for sure.

OK, assuming both are on non-overlapping channels, so no radio interference, OK.

If both are on the same subnet then whether WIFI-1 or WIFI-2 have the same access, there is really no advantage, unless somehow your can place access restriction, bandwidth limiting to the "guest" WIFI, such boxes will come with some form of QOS and filtering capability. I suppose you can tell Guest-WIFI to run 802.11b only, that will slow down the heck out of their access.

yeah i turned off wifi on the att router/modem and am just using my good router. would there be any advantage to using the att router for all my wired devices and my good router for strictly wifi?
