Question Attaching Wi-Fi bracket

I'm having trouble with Wi-Fi on my new build. I'm using a MSI PRO Z790-S WIFI LGA 1700 ATX DDR5 SATA 6Gbps 2.5G LAN with Wi-Fi 6E Motherboard. The Wi-Fi is working but it's very slow. I think it has something to do with the Wi-Fi bracket or RP-SMA connectors.

The Wi-Fi bracket didn't quite fit properly so I sort of forced it in and wasn't sure if that could have an impact.

Please see the attached pictures. Would love some guidance on what I'm doing wrong.

should go in the manner stated in the video.

I say this because the PCIe bracket looks like you mounted it to the exterior of the case instead of the interior.

What case are you working with?

In the 3rd picture it appears that one of the MHF4 connectors is not properly connected to the wifi card mounted on your motherboard. Normally the 2 black wires would be connected to the 2 sockets on the wifi card. But it does not appear that anything is connected to the socket closest to the top in the picture, closest to the orange warning label. Perhaps that connection was broken at some point. If that second black wire just ends where it appears to end in the picture, does that mean that the connector has been broken, or is it just detached? If it is just detached you could try to attach it. If the end of the connector is broken off, it would need to be replaced.

Thanks for your response. When you refer to the connector, are you talking about the little plastic tube like thing that was at the end of the black wire? If so I thought it was just to protect the wire and threw it out 🙁

Normally there are 2 wires connected to the 2 posts on every wifi card. The picture shows 1 wire connected to the lower post, and the top post is bare with nothing connected to it. The wire to the left of the connected wire does not appear to be connected to anything. Is that correct, is it just lying there loose? If it is supposed to be connected to the top post that may be why your wifi is slow.

The tip of both of the black wires have a little magnetic end but they don't really stay attached to the WiFi board and there's nothing connecting them. So more or less lying loose.

That is not a magnetic end. Those have to be aligned carefully and then pressed into place. You'll feel a small click when properly attached.

The bracket also looks to be improperly aligned and attached to the case. Straighten out and attach squarely with the proper screw.

I would have recommend a simpler and easier to install PCIe based adapter rather than what you are using. Something like these.

Where do they get pressed in? I assume it's the small gold/silver circles on the green Wi-Fi card? I tried pressing the ends of the black wires in to them but nothing happened.

Yep, that is where they go. It can be difficult (and tedious) to align properly so that you can press into place. Just takes some patience.

I must be doing something wrong. I have spent so much time trying to push the ends of the black wires onto the two slots on the wireless module and I just cannot get them.

If I order one of the adapters you suggested, does it eliminate the need to connect the ends of the black wires to the wireless module?
