I have just built a new PC and I can't get the audio to work or access the bios. Specs: fx 8350, asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0, gigabyte r9 380 4gb, 8gb fury 1866 ram, wd 1tb black, running windows 8.1 and using hyperx cloud.

So far I have cleared the cmos and tried to rollback the bios using the button. Pc works fine for everything while in windows but before booting it shows the press del to enter bios, this doesn't work, then goes to a black screen that says the name of my hard drive press any button to cancel. If I let it go it boots to windows and if i press a button it goes to a blank screen.

About the audio. I have downloaded and re downloaded the drivers, tried every port, and it just wont play audio. any ideas?

Any help appreciated

You should have on the motherboard if you look a switch to push that will send you into the bios section of the Asus board.
It`s called direct key. if you power your system on with the side of your tower case off then press the button on your motherboard it will enter your bios.

The direct key is located next to where you plug all of your led Hd and power lights plus the reset switch and power switch of your motherboard.
Located in the lower bottom right of the board, a small round push button black in color.

Change your settings in your bios and then save them before you exit it ok.

That should sort it out Lou ok.
Your first problem to do with your entering the bios via a usb keyboard.
You need to enable the option of detect usb legacy devices in the bios and save those settings.
Next set your hard drive in your boot order list of the bios to number 1.

Next for your audio, rear Ports set to HD audio, your two front ports if you have them on your tower case set to AC97 ect, or HD as well.

In windows you need to right click on your speaker icon, go to play back devices.
In there you will see a list of audio devices.
You will see ones listed for HDMI audio output based on your new 380 card. right click and disable all references.
Make sure your HD audio is set as the default device.

Your audio when playing a game ect is being routed to the HDMI audio that the R9 380 card can output.
And switching from HDMI audio, dropping back to HD audio for windows desktop.

THE JACKS ARE AUTO SENSING FOR 1.5MM JACK INPUT.

This happens when you have speakers set up on the back audio output panel of your motherboard and, or if you have HDMI connection to for example a 1080p tv with speakers or a monitor with in built speakers and Hdmi video connection to it.
To avoid switching disable all Hdmi audio playback.

You can also access the audio options for Hdmi audio in catalyst ccc.
Or simply remove the HDMI Ati audio driver from the add remove options off the CCC uninstall software to resolve the problem.
