Hi everyone,
I haven't been here in a while, been out of the computer scene for some time, but slowly getting back into it.

And here's the problem - My nephew just started his college courses for this year, and bought a new laptop. A Gigabyte G6 Series Intel Core i7 GeForce 4050 Windows 11 Home 64 bit Laptop.
The audio has become muted and states audio has been disconnected, or not connected.
He hasn't had any speakers connected and the internal speakers were working fine yesterday. He turned it off last night and it came on during the night to update. He rolled over and went back to sleep. And during one of his classes he's pretty sure he muted the machine, and that seems to be where the issue started.
I've removed the drivers, though I'm not sure if I disabled the automatic reinstall, I think I got it now. I'll check tomorrow when he's done with his classes.
I'm open to a lot of suggestion, since I've not done much work on windows 11.
Mind you, I had the same problem, and it was a while ago, but I don't recall how I fixed it.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, by both of us.

Thanks in advance

Hi,
1. Does the Laptop have an Audio soft touch on/off switch or one on the keyboard ? Crazily enough some overlook this one and forget its there to mute.
2. Type in Services.msc in the search box and look at the 'Windows Audio' service to see if it is running
3. Have you checked all the settings in System > Sound to look at Output, Input & Advanced ?
4. Have you checked the Windows Device Manager to see if the sound card is listed and installed properly with the correct drivers, e.g. No Yellow Exclamations thru the device ? Has it been uninstalled within device manager and then click Scan for hardware changes in the menu at the top?
5. Does the sound work if you connect headphones?

just a few suggestions.....let us know how you go, Cheers
