audio device not working

CPU: i7 4790k
Motherboard: Asus z87-Pro
Ram: Team EP 8 GB
Storage: Intel 530 250gb, Samsung 850 evo 500gb, samsung 850 evo 1tb, WD caviar blue 1tb
OS: Win 7
when i plug my microphone into my motherboard's audio ports (ie line in, mic in, front panel mic in) and no input is detected. have tried reinstall clean drives from the motherboard website

can you see the audio device in the device manager?
is the device enabled in the BIOS?
