Audio issues with Asus Sabertooth 990fx R2.0

So I recently formatted my boot HDD and reinstalled windows, put all my drivers in and most things were working fine, except there was no audio, from either the back 3.5mm jacks or the fronts.

I've searched around and found that some other people have issues with the audio on this mobo but for them they mostly cannot detect that a device is plugged in, whereas with me it can detect that speakers are plugged in, but no there is no output when I'm testing it.

For note; I've tried resetting the CMOS, updating BIOS, uninstalling Realtek drivers and reinstalling multiple times, tried disabling Digital Audio (S/PDIF) devices and I can't get it to work. So I'm somewhat at a loss.

Overall specs for the PC are:
OS: Windows 7 64bit
Acer Sabertooth 990fx R2.0
AMD Phenom II X4 365 3.4ghz CPU
Nvidia Geforce 550ti GPU
8GB Corsair Vengeance 1333mhz DDR3
x2 1TB Western Digital HDD 7200rpm

As a side note, it also now won't let me connect to my Universitiy's wireless network but it did do before, it continuously tells me I need 'additional information to connect'.

Couple things:
1. If all drivers were installed and uninstalled and still no audio, check control panel > sounds and make sure it's not on mute.
2. Check system try and click on volume control options, see if its not on mute either and also see if theres any movement in the volume changes.
3. If both are not muted, you might have a driver conflict and/or IRQ conflict but that's rare these days.
4. If so, uninstall that wireless adapter, restart completely, make sure it doesn't self install again after reboot, then install Realtek drivers accordingly, test for sound, then install the wireless.
5. And lastly, if sound is working fine in the back port, but not the front, you might have to configure your headset to output correctly, that's all I can come up with now, Good luck!!

I've got the same problem - mine says the microphone is plugged into the front port even though I disconnected it from the motherboard... it will automatically mute your rear speakers when this happens anyways... However my 'optical' audio out works in the back. I'm going to try reinstall windows and if that doesn't work send this worthless (my second one) motherboard back and get a different brand.

Unfortunately I had to replace my motherboard at the end of it all, no worries though as these babies have a 5 year warranty. it seemed to be my hd 7950 graphics card in the end, it was forcing the motherboard to use the video card HDMI slots for sound... but at the same time not, causing the motherboard onboard to burn out or something like that, I had to go through two of these motherboards to figure that out. I now have a R9 graphics card and it works fine.

Scan.co.uk gave me no end of delays getting a replacement motherboard (6 weeks) where as Ebuyer who I ended up buying from replaced my second blown motherboard in 2 days. Dont ever buy from scan.co.uk as they should be called scam.co.uk ... most aweful customer service I have had on more than one occasion and delays with my orders.

i have this same problem with asus sabertooth 990fx R2.0 mobo
i get sound via Bluetooth headphones tho so i dunno what the problem is
does anyone have any ideas?

Mrconspicuous it seems the only way to solve the problem is to return the motherboard and get a replacement, luckily they come with a 5 year warranty.
