Audio on 990FX Extreme 9

I'm a sound newbie. There are 4 analog outputs (grey - side speaker, black - rear speaker, orange - central/bass, lime - front speaker). What kind of speakers should I be buying for this? How should I be setting them up? Anybody have any diagrams?

look at ones you like get there manual and see how much it takes and all needed to hook them up

even good qualitiy onboard audio on expensive motherboards is only about as good as low end cheap soundcards so really any speaker system that is self powered would work. for expensive speakers you might want a soundcard or dac upgrade though.

logitech speakers like the z506 if you want 5.1 are fine for most people. or get a 2.1 model if 5.1 is not needed. if you had a larger budget or wanted something higher quality then i suggest you give us more info as speakers range in price from under $50 to well over $1000 and come in all shapes, sizes and uses.

you already labeled which ports do what. if you bought pc speakers just connect the colors up to match.

I forgot to say in the 5.1 set you see the green[lime] black and orange are used to push that set [#4 page 2 of manual I linked ] but a simple 2.1 like the z3 just uses the green[lime] from the pc onboard [#4 page 2 as well from its manual]

2.1 always been good for me I got enough clutter around my desk and 5.1 set up just adds more to that I don't need to deal with [opinion] lol....
