audio recording not working?

I use PC and I'm familiar with the basic audio recording function, either using audio software or the built-in sound recorder. But after I recently changed my computer speakers the recording wouldn't work. Do you have any idea why this happened?

Something worth mentioning is while I was connecting the new speaker I plugged it into the wrong jack and tried to use it briefly. There are three jacks on the sound card which are red, blue, and green. I was supposed to insert it into the green one but I plugged it into the other ones because I wasn't too familiar with them. But that was very brief like less than a minute maybe.

Give us more information about your Sound Card model and your:
1)Speakers model
2) Microphone model
3) Other devices (for audio recording)

p.s. The problem may comes from your sound card settings (MIX volume too). Check there!

I checked sound settings as you mentioned and realized the wrong option was chosen under the recording tab. Now it's working again. Thanks!
