Hi,

I used the zoom application without issues (audio and video) on 22nd March, and it put my laptop on standby. The next morning I have find that I have no sound coming through my speakers at all. When I plugged in a pair of headphones into the audio/mic jack. The sound works without issue.

After spending many hours online I did the following:
Setting all the volume outputs to max in the sound settings
Reinstalling all sound and audio drivers listed under device manager

Device Manager -->Under Audio inputs and Outputs
Microphone (RealTek High Definition Audio)
Speakers (RealTek High Definition Audio)
Stereo Mix ?? (RealTek High Definition Audio)

When I click on Speakers; and on the events tab:

Any help would be much appreciated?

This might have resulted from a system restore; where I tried to go back to back to 21st March using an automatically created system restore point. I am a loss to explain why this could have happened

You kinda have my thinking here? If this was a desktop I would point you to go make sure Audio was out putting to HDMI audio out. But I'm not sure how a laptop GTX 1050 deals with audio.

Thanks for the quick response. I do have an HDMI out; and as I suspected it works without issue when connects to my TV, the sound generates as clear as day.

When I unplug the HDMI cable, video plays and no sound coming from my laptop speakers

So when your on the desktop go down to your volume control and Right click it. ......................Than open sound settings.............on the window that pops up scroll down to .........................Advanced sound options.....click it

you should see all your volume controls on the left and on the right is where you can choose your Output/ Inputs is your on board speakers set to output along with HDMI

Yes, when I navigate to that screen

Output : Sony TV (intel display audio) -- Sound via the TV. - works There is a selection for the Reltek High Definition Audio - when selected no sound
Input : Microphone (Reltek High Definition Audio)

Being as your last working sound was with your "zoom application" wondering if for some reason program is still latched to your audio device.

Bring up your task manager ......Control ALT Delete..... and see if your "zoom" is still running. If so right click and end process and restart.

Zoom had two instances running; I ended both, and uninstalled zoom. Still no sound while using internal speakers. Headphones and HDMI work without issue.

I appreciate the help thus far :)

I need to do some thinking. Because your working but your not.

Is everything disconnected from laptop. Earphones, anything USB. Maybe shut down laptop completely not just restart.

If this was an older laptop some used to have a mute button up there by your "F" key but I don't see where you have said anything about that.

Hopefully we will get some other Ideas from other members.
