Im building a New PC but I've hit a wall in setting it up. The computer tuns on, all the fans spin, and I see the POST screen where it tells to press del to go to BIOS or f12 for boot menu etc, but it doesn't recognize my keyboard inputs. I've tried two different USB keyboards that are confirmed to work on other computers in every port, front and back. The lights on the keyboards do light up so I think the connections should be good. Clearing the CMOS doesn't fix anything either. I've tried to look around and to find possible answers and people have said to try a PS/2 keyboard instead(I ordered one it should be here tomorrow), but I was wondering if you guys had any other ideas?
CPU: i5 8600k
RAM: 8x2GB DDR4 2400
MOBO: z370 Auros gaming wifi
Storage: Plextor M8Se(G) M.2 2280 256GB
GPU: GTX 1070. Same problem with integrated graphics though.
I submitted a support ticket a few days ago but no response yet.

You tried the ports closest to the top of the motherboard?

As an alternative, I believe you can get into the BIOS by using Windows.

Click the Start menu and select Settings.
Select Update and Security.
Click Recovery.
Under Advanced startup, click Restart now. ...
Select Troubleshoot.
Choose Advanced options.
Select UEFI Firmware Settings.
Click Restart to restart the system and enter UEFI (BIOS).

Yes I have tried all the ports. I can't take the steps you suggest because I haven't installed Windows yet. I have the Windows installer on a flash drive and Windows already set up on a separate SSD but it won't boot from either automatically. I just get stuck on the POST screen.

Shoot. Sorry about that didn't realize.

That's a strange issue. There is a legacy setting within the BIOS that is used to make sure the USB ports stay active for POST, but that's usually on by default.

I would try a full CMOS reset one more time. Remove the power cord, Press the power button to discharge caps, remove the motherboard battery and wait 5 minutes this time.

Yea reset the CMOS again giving it plenty of time and using the top left USB port and I'm getting the same thing. I won't be able to test it until tomorrow night, but does this sound like the kind of thing a PS/2 keyboard would solve or does it sound more like a motherboard issue? Thanks for the help.

That sucks man sorry.

I feel like it should be responding either way, but it's not worth speculating over. I hope the PS/2 port works for you, other than that it's RMA I suppose.

I have isolated the problem and I don't think it's the mobo. I tried the PS/2 keyboard but that didn't change anything, and then as I was taking it apart to RMA it, I tried to boot it without the M.2 drive and it works perfectly. I tried moving it again in the other M.2 slot and it only has the problem with the drive plugged in. It's brand new and there's nothing on it so I'm not sure what to make of this. Does that sound more like a bad storage drive or bad M.2 ports?
