This I suppose is more related to DRM in consumer electronics.
I have a satellite TV box (typically called as STB in my country). It has recording feature to an external USB pen drive. The process is simple, hit the Record button on the remote and the live program is also recorded on the pen drive connected to the STB. It has USB 2.0 ports. The thing is when I play it back (of course on the same STB) a few files end up with "Authentication Failed" message on screen and are automatically removed.
I am clueless why it’s happening. The service provider does not have any idea. They simply import the box in my region. My suspicion in a DRM issue of some sort. Something is going wrong in the decryption of the stream??
Does anyone know why it occurs? I tried another pen drive but still it occurs randomly sometime.
Thanks.
