Auto Standby Feature not working

My monitor will no longer go to standby mode when switching off my desktop on windows xp.Can anyone help ? I have tried all I know.

Go to monitor menu and make sure it's enabled ? Otherwise this is a monitor defect not a Windows XP issue.
