automatic searching

When I double click on to a folder in Win XP Home I get prompted to search
for the files. None of the files are displayed unless I click the search
button. There must be a setting I have turned on or off somewhere.

Start>run and type

regedit

Navigate to:
HKCR\Folder\Shell
Double-click "default" (REG_SZ) in the right-hand pane and ensure the value
is blank (value not set). If not delete the "default" key.

HKCR\Drive\shell
Double-click "default" (REG_SZ) in the right-hand pane and ensure the value
is "none". If not modify the value of the default key to "none". (without
the quotes)

HKCR\Directory\shell
Double-click "default" (REG_SZ) in the right-hand pane and ensure the value
is "none". If not modify the value of the default key to "none". (without
the quotes)
