Hello i am wondering what are some peoples average idle temps for their oc intel i7 2600k, i am getting about 40c at idle and 60c under full load. I have seen that people are getting around 20-30c and i am confused as too why i can't get that. I have reapplied thermal paste serveral times to see it i can get a decrease but have not seen any improvement yet.

I do have stock heatsink and fan on it.

I am running a 2600k as well and my average idle temp is from 28 - 33c. I don't think its the thermal paste is the issue but probably to stock cooler it self. if you don't want to spend much go buy a CM212 should bring it down. but to be honest the idle temp doesn't mean much of anything its all about the load temp. my load temps are 58 - 61c on gaming load and full prime 95 load goes to 68c i am also oc'd to 4.7 though.

i believe i am at 4.5 and i get 60c when playing waw online for a while and 65c when i play batman arkaham city all on full settings and everything. Do you think the cooler master hyper 212+ will do well? or should i keep it with the stock?

Yea just like sosofm said your temps are quite good for a stock cooler, if i were you i would get a CMH 212+ i have one on my old q6600 and it works super well for a cheap cooler i would highly recommend for a cheaper cooler

is it big though? like i am iffy if it will fit in my case. I have a CM 690 II advanced

yup it will fit in that case that is the case im using for my q6600 as well lol. not 100% sure if you will be able to fit the top side fan on the case with the cooler or not but it will fit in the case for sure.

I just went to my nearest microcenter and picked up the cooleaster 212 Evo which I think Is better because of the full contact of copper. Yeah I hope it fits I rested it in there to see if it fits, it seemed too, but I added a 140mm to the side fb the case so I don't know if it will fit under it so I might have to move it. You like the case?

i installed just now and am seeing an improvement, i am now getting around 30c at idle and high 40c to low 50c at full, but have to wait for thermal paste to cure for accurate reading.

I have the exact setup and those are the temps that i have. Its a great cooler for the $.

Well done. :)

actually today after school, i am guessing that my thermal paste has cured and i am seeing even more of an iprovement, of know idle 28c which is great. I am happy with my purchase. I now only worry about this cooler being too heavy and somehow managing to destroy my motherboard

Haha, don't worry about it. Mobos are strong, and the 212 EVO aint the biggest Air cooler around. I think the Noctua NH-D14 or the Phanteks PH-TC14-PE take that crown - I have the latter on mine and its looking good 😛

jesus i just looked at that thing, its massive.. how does it even fit in your case? you probably need a heater for your cpu! You better make sure it doesn't freeze
