award 1998 pci/pnp 686

Solution

Open up Picture 6. at the bottom you see 2 rows of pins. on the left top row there are 4 pins and then a pin is missing. That is for speaker. The bottom left two is for...
These guys are more like blade servers and they get all their power and everything form the backplane. This piticular board (or at least the one in the manual if it is that one) gets all the power from the 3 Big connectors on the side. This like hard drives, ect and other things as well.

I could be wrong since i never messed with a board that old but without the enclosure with the backplane i doubt you can get it on.

The question is what you need with a almost 20 year old board? lol

the manual says don't change the battery unless the brand is recommended from the manufacturing company of the motherboard seems like they had few cases of exploding battery's and i can't find which type they would recommend
also i was hoping to run it without anything connected to the pins like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0OKmIuNtmI

i got few pc parts in the back of my closet am hoping to put them all together for fun i guess also which 3 big connectors ?

give me half an hour and i will post a photo but for now here is a model number 240194659

never , old pc parts are like my fetish

I have a working Dell laptop of around the same vintage. It serves one purpose, and does that well, if very, very slowly.
If/when it actually dies, I'll not spend any real time trying to 'fix it'.

think what it went through it was used by how many people probably the people that worked at the manufacturing company are dead now and this piece of history is still alive you should appreciate this type of things and again it might be because my broke ass can't get a new pc

Got one OLD laptop we keep around. Why. It has a COM port. Don't see those on laptops anymore and the USB/PCI Express adapters just don't work the same either hahaha so in some cases YES it is good to have older hardware

Exactly. This old Dell has a serial port, used to interface with the ODBII cable and applications I have. Used for talking to the old vehicles.
Sure, I could buy a new USB ODBII interface. But as long as this laptop works, no need to replace.
That reminds me....I need to check the new/old truck this weekend...:)

sorry for the delay here you go

i also got this in the back of closet http://www33.speedyshare.com/GN5UM/88b66911/download/20150627-020737.jpg would it work ? also how would i plug it in
Thanks btw

hmm...
No smartphone capable of that. Tablet...I'd have to rip the 'recipe tablet' out of the kitchen...lol
What I have works perfectly, until that laptop dies. No need to spend extra money replacing it.

Open up Picture 6. at the bottom you see 2 rows of pins. on the left top row there are 4 pins and then a pin is missing. That is for speaker. The bottom left two is for the reset. the bottom two on the right look like they are they main power (you can test just using a screw driver (I always perfer a philips because it doesn't slip and touch other pins as much) the the next two up is power LED probably and then next two up are HDD led.

The Speaker and LED's do only go one way. So if you put them on and they don't work reverse them.

Can't see to find an exact motherboard model on it. I use to have a similar board back in my Slot 1 days and the model number is usually in between all the cards that you have plugged in. The Intel 440BX was a boot chipset to me back in the day. Did quite a bit of overclocking on those guys. Only thing is they only take a 256MB stick of ram per slot. Had a gig and a half in there and could only use half of that XD

Solution
i really appreciate you helping me cheers for that , the only thing under the cards is this award '1998 pci/pnp 686 240194659" I'm going to test it right now and post the results btw you still got that board 😀 ?

from the manual
"Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced.
Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer
Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions"

EDIT : it worked my man i love you honestly 😀 now time to install everything

Trust me I have been replacing CMOS batteries since before this board came out. You can use just about any CR2032 battery. Most likely it will be either Energizer or Duacell. Either one will work just fine BUT if it isn't saying anything about it being CMOS battery low don't worry about it.

And have fun with the old tech! HAHA I know I had to install windows 98 a while back to get a old program for a client working. Man it has been sooooo long i got so lost. I even has issues with XP at times XD

running through more problems already not sure if i should open a new thread or continue in this one

http://singaporemarket.org/images/VGA1.gif
the cable i got would go in the video card not the build in one but it won't run because it needs a driver so i tried to plug it in the built in one but both look the same as the one on the left so it wouldn't plug should i buy a new cable and if so what is the name of it or should i get an extension converter between the two and if so what is the name of it

That is a VGA Extension cable. To go directly from a Video card to monitor you need a Male to Male unless the Monitor already has a VGA Cable then that is the right one you need.

Can you take a pic of the video card ports? Try to get some that are focused though XD half the other ones were blurry

yea sure i will post the photos within few hours sorry about them being blurry I'm old i got shaky hands the video card that is not built in it would connect but nothing would show which leads me to believe it needs a driver so I'm gonna get a male to male vga cable later on and try again on the built in one
