My internal monitor of my Asus laptop is broken so I attached the pc to a temporary one via a hdmi to vga adaptor, the cables are all fine, drivers too, (1024x768, 5:4)
The stuttering goes away when the lid is closed and with 75 Hz put on external monitor even though it only supports 60Hz, anything lower than that the screen will make the screen have 2 bars on the sides and all cramped up, when put on only show on second screen the computer freezes and I have to restart

With the lid closed the computer overheats and shuts down, that's why I can't always use it
Is there a command where I can make windows think that the lid is closed when it's open so it doesn't overheat? The lid open action in power settings didn't change anything

I unplugged and replugged the HDMI cable a multiple times, messed some things in BIOS and it worked and went into sleep mode then opened it, I don't know what hit the nail
