Axis & Allies D-Day == Memoir '44?

I've read that Richard Borg has designed another board game with big hexes
and plastic toy soldiers, that was recently released in Europe under the
title "Memoir '44". It's said to be a tactical flavored game, with a book of
scenarios taken from D-Day and the '44 Normandy campaign.

I see that Hasbro has released another "Axis & Allies" game. (Two new A&A
games in two months?!? Wowsers. Hasbro sure is milking that franchise.) This
one is "Axis & Allies D-Day", and photos of the board look different from
any previous "A&A". This board features big hexes, of Normandy beach
terrain.

Are "Memoir '44" and "Axis & Allies D-Day" the same game? If not, my what a
coincidence. If not, has anyone heard when "Memoir '44" will be available in
the US?

Memoir 44 uses a system similar to Battle Cry. So, it's very different
than A&A D-Day.

Thanks for that. I examined a copy of A&A D-Day down at the hobby shop
today - ya right, it's a different game. Since I'm a fan of both Battle Cry
and A&A, I'll probably spring for both games 🙂

Memoir '44 is supposed to be available in the next week or so. I played
a demo copy at KublaCon over the weekend. I've written a review for it
which may appear at http://bouldergames.com.

If you like Battle Cry, my prediction is that you'll *love* Memoir '44.
