B1/b2 slots rather than a1/a2?

my motherboard has 4 slots for RAM, divided into a1/a2 and b1/b2.
however, my CPU cooler is blocking the first set of memory spaces. I know, not very well thought out on my part.

But, since i have no use for more than 8GB, would it be possible to simply ignore the a1/a2 slots and just use b1/b2? would there be any repercussions, or would my computer still run smoothly?

Or is my only option to change CPU coolers?

Thanks!

For Dual Channel typically it's A2/B2 and the RAM must be in the same color DIMM slots. I am assuming Noctua NH-D14 and something like Vengeance RAM...guessing here. You could try if possible to raise the fan slightly.

Q - What MOBO?
Q - What HSF?
Q - What RAM?

ah.
that makes sense.
i'll just put my RAM in A2/B2 and see how it works.
thanks!
