B250 motherboard + i7 6700 RAM speed question

Hi,
I'm currently using a B150 motherboard with an i7 6700 non K, and my ram is running at 2133mhz, i read somewhere that the B250 series motherboards support DDR4 2400, so if i change my motherboard to a B250 and still using my 6700, will my ram run at 2400mhz, my RAM is corsair vengeance LED 2666mhz 8GB x 2, i really dont plan on overclocking my CPU and i really cant afford a CPU+Motherboard upgrade right now.. so my question is, will my RAM run at 2400mhz if i change only the motherboard to a B250 or if i change my cpu to a 7700 non K without changing the motherboard?? my specs are in my signature. any other upgrade ideas or suggestions are also welcome.. thanks in advance

No point upgrading your motherboard at all!
Additionally, even if you were upgrading to 3000MHz I wouldn't recommend it.
Your specs work perfectly fine, and RAM speed won't have any impact.

hey, thanks for the reply, and yea, i figured i wont get much performance from the higher ram speed, but still, it would be nice to have it running a bit faster.. I was thinking of getting the Gigabyte GA-Gaming B8 (B250 chipset) to replace my current board (B150) as its not that expensive plus i like the board design (i love green), but if my RAM wont run any faster, then there's no point in me changing the board, hence my question - will my ram run at 2400mhz if i change to a B250

What do you mean by ' it would be nice to have it running a bit faster'?
You won't notice any difference at all, and buying a new mobo means you have to buy a new copy of Windows since it ties itself to the motherboard after installing.
Save up and upgrade your GPU and or monitor next generation.

run faster as in 2400mhz from 2133mhz, yea i think ill take your advice and wait for coffee lake/ Ryzen 2(?).. on a different topic, i see that you are using the same ram as me, are you able to control the ram led settings? i was able to set it on static but after a windows or corsair link update.. the setting is just gone.. i cant change anything now, any idea on this? screenshot attached

Edit: only windows 10 OEM and insider keys are linked to the motherboard AFAIK.. so retail versions dont need to be re-purchased

If using 6th gen CPU like 6700, and B150 or B250 board, max ram speed is 2133. To get 2400, you either need to use 7th gen CPU like 7700 (and it *should* work on B150 too), or Z170 or Z270 board (and you could get more than 2400 on those).

Don't upgrade your motherboard full stop unless you're getting a k series processor and going Z270, pointless to go just for RAM speed.

what i meant was that i could control the led, static, pulsing, brightness.. now those options are gone

That's strange.
Just uninstall and reinstall Corsair Link, should fix the problems.

already done that many times.. same thing.. and i dont wanna do a full re-install of windows as im getting a new nvme ssd soon.. will update when i do that
