I told windows to ‘sleep’ last night and immediately went to bed. When I checked it in the morning, the fans and lights were still going although windows was not displaying.

I couldn’t use the standard power button to turn it off, needing to use the psi switch.

Now, when I turn it on, the motherboard fails to post, showing the CPU led as being on.

I have tried running without gpu, with 1 stick of RAM. I’ve removed cmos battery a couple of times to no effect.

Nothing I do makes the pc boot properly.

It seems very strange for a hardware issue given the circumstances. I’ve had no issues with anything recently. My current thinking is that it’s connected to the windows sleep function since that seems to be the cause. Also I am running a ryzen which seems to have issues with sleep sometimes from what I’ve read.

I’ve never had this issue before.

Really limited to what I can do given the current circumstances.

My specs are:
Ryzen 5 1600
Nvidia 1050ti
2*8gb Corsair 3000mhz DDR4
Msi b350 tomahawk

Oh and my PSU is a corsair cx600
Also to reiterate: the power button works to start the pc, where the board lights up etc. But I cannot use the power button to shut it off after.

Also, if I power without a graphics card, the cpu led alone comes on. However if I unplug the cpu fan before powering, the graphics led comes on as well.

Hey Theo I appreciate the response. Our issues seem quite similar.

I had a kettle short my room’s electrics a few days ago and I realise now that my PSU lead went straight into the main socket. Perhaps that is the root cause although today is the first time it’s failed me.
