Hi -- I am considering MSI B450 Tomahawk Max with the Ryzen 5 3600 CPU. It was my understanding that the mobo is out-of-the-box compatible with the cpu. However, on pc partpicker, the parts do not seem to be compatible and I will have to update the BIOS. Is that true? And if so, is it easy to update the BIOS?

This is my second build, so I'm a little concerned about updating the BIOS.

Thanks for any feedback/advice.

The MSI MAX Series Motherboards are indeed Ryzen 3rd gen. compatible as they were launched along with the 3rd gen. processors. You see that message on PCPP because it cannot segregate between earlier or later B450 boards. It assumes all B450 boards to have been launched at the same time.
Dont worry about it, you should be all good.
