Hi,

My friend replaced his old intel system with new amd hardware:
-b550 msi carbon wifi
-3700x

The storage drives are the same, aswell as the windows installation.
Ethernet drivers and bios were updated.

Though he has a good internet connection, with low ping and good speeds in a speedtest, his internet clearly isn't stable, and when playing games he keeps having mini-lag spikes.
In counter-strike, although its hard to spot it, if you check the mini map its clear he's character is not moving in a smooth way but rather teleporting. Same thing with warzone.

This is a screenshot from the first tool that shows when searching for "stability test", don't know if it helps but as you can see, those orange bars are out of place:

I had the same issue in my msi b550 tomahawk when I was connected to the 2.5G port but after messing with the drivers and after changing to the 1G port I never had any problems.

I have updated the bios, tried the oldest and newest realtek ethernet drivers but nothing seems to work. Is there anything I can do to help him?

Thanks

Solution
If that tp-link card also realtek, he may still run into the issue as it may be the same driver set.

I would install all the motherboard drivers from msi if he hasn't already--auto drivers are still not the best in most cases.

If your friend just plugged in his old OS drive, especially Intel to AMD (or vice versa), this is not surprising.
There are countless driver/chipset conflicts going on here, and 'updating' drivers likely won't help much.

While just connecting a drive can 'work', that's only in terms of functional - far from peak operation.

Your friend should really be looking at a clean OS install here, with the new hardware.

Alright, I will let him know. I found that to be a possible cause but I was hoping that by uninstalling older network drivers the problem would be solved.

He will try to fix it by only adding a pci-e tp-link card and using it instead.

Reinstalling windows is not that easy to do for him, but if the new card doesn't solved it will have to be done.
Otherwise, I guess he might prefer to live with it, even though the new hardware won't perform as good as it would with a clean OS

Thanks for the help
