Will it fit? I'm afraid that gpu will block SATA slots. I have 770 Jetstream now and there's no space left - it blocks the first 2, but the lower ones are still usable. How about 290X Lightning?
Is this your board? http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4315#ov
It should not cover the lower two SATA headers. The width of the card would have to be wider than the 2 legacy PCI slots next to the PCIe x16 slot even to do that. And you always have the option of going with right-angle, low profile SATA cables.
Well this is how it looks now : http://postimg.org/image/rf7ers6pr/
My case is Brutus M 23 so 302mm card lenght shouldn't be a problem - 310 is max.
The thing I'm worried about is that Palit is 50mm and it still covers first two SATAs. R9 290x Lightning is said to have 55mm -
5 mm more, and that could make the trouble. However, I hope that those 55 mm are measured with backplate ( Palit has no backplate ). In that case the card MAYBE would fit. Thanks for your advice though
I think I'm gonna go #yolo,
then cry and change motherboard.
