I have a Macbook pro that has a 500GB HDD and desktop running windows 10 that has a 250GB SSD and a 1TB HDD for extra storage (with more than 500GB free). Is there any way that I could connect both computers to a router and back up the macbook on to my storage drive on my desktop?

Solution
Absolutely.

Place both machines on the TCP/IP network. Turn on file sharing on your PC box with write permission.

On your Mac, open a samba share under Finder such as: SMB://PCNAME/SHARENAME

BAM!

I would use Time Machine with an external hard drive but I have to send off my Macbook ASAP to get the GPU fixed. Can I set up Time Machine with the current set up I have?

Follow the procedure outlined by jsmithepa, then use Carbon Copy Cloner to create an image of the drive as a file on the networked drive: http://osxdaily.com/2012/05/23/create-disk-image-of-mac-hard-drive/ This will take quite a long time depending upon the speed of your network.
