BACKGROUND CPU Usage

so i did the userbenchmark test and it shows high cpu background usage around 10-22% while i have nothing open, and there is no program or anything using that much cpu usage in the task manager.
when i just started up my pc my youtube and twitch are working fine but ~ 2hours later my youtube and twitch are lagging like hell and its unwatchable.

plz help.


CPU:Intel i-5 4570
GPU: MSI GAMING X8G 1070
RAM: SEAGATE 1TB
SSD: UNKNOWN BRAND 128GB

I believe these are 2 separate problems. For the first, the may be some hidden tasks running (most like SVCHost.exe). You can view them and temporarily disable them (with caution) through task manager.

With the second issue, by lag you mean buffering? This is likely caused by slow internet speed. Maybe someone in your household is hogging the internet's bandwidth.

my internet is fine, 146mps download and 16mps upload.

i just restarded my pc and it is still happening.

those background tasks can be disabled if not needed. win 10 has a ton of crap you don't need running. start slow and only stop what you KNOW you don't need.

keep records of what you turned off and on in case you need to restart some stuff. that will free up a lot of the resources but not all. windows still runs even at idle so it will use a bit of cpu n ram no matter what. but you can get some of it gone by turning off services n auto-startups

this is a nice MS made utility to turn off a buch of stuff you did not know was running at start-up

the thing is i do not know what task can be disabled or cannot be disabled.

I use a program called Game Booster 3, you can use it to shut down unnecessary tasks including windows tasks. Took my background from near 20% to 2 %. Good when gaming etc. Also bumped up the score in my Userbenchmark test alot.

I would probably run your antivirus and malwarebytes as something maybe hijacking your internet use

I use WinAero. It's a really simple program, but for me it's most important feature is its easy ability to shut down that annoying MS Store, which has constant updates, changes etc, which add to cpu usage.

I'd also check the mobo website for any and all driver updates, especially audio and Lan. Win10CE can be a little buggy with older (it considers them out of date) drivers, so might be doing a little looping.

Windows search>msconfig>Services>Check hide all Microsoft services box, and then check disable all. Press apply and restart and see if the problem persists.

Drivers are easy to figure. You download and install the audio-2016, lan-2016, Intel management engine-2015, and the XFast Lan utility. Since you asked, I'm assuming you are still running the factory drivers from disc, which are older versions.

Disabled all startup programs and ran AVG Anti-virus and Malwarebytes, no threats found.
And i cleaned my computer through CCleaner.

Please help, i have this issue for 2weeks now.

Windows search>msconfig>boot>check safe boot minimal click apply. After reboot check to see if you still have background CPU usage. Let me know what you find.
