Backorders (8400 MCE)

Anyone else having system backorder problems. I was told they are
having a shortage of Intel chips. That sounds like it could be more
widespread. Mine was ordered in mid Nov., was estimated done by Dec.
1 and now Dec. 16 it's still not at all built. What's going on?????

Yes.

I ordered one 10 days ago and it's still showing as "preproduction." The
order process did mention a delay because I ordered the dual TV tuner.

It was a good deal though and I'm in no hurry. Guess it'll get here when it
gets here.

It's Christmas. Dell always gets hammered at Christmas because people wait
till the last minute to order.

Dell doesn't pull these systems off of a shelf, they have to make them.
Counting shipping time, it is last minute.

they are right if you want a computer by Christmas you should order 4 to 6
weeks in advance.

Yes I ordered the TV tuner too , but they told me it was the Intel 540
chip.

An update.

Mine slipped quietly overnight from "PreProduction" to "InProduction" on the
ever reliable ;-) Dell status page. Estimated ship date remains 12-27.

Time will tell.

Just to update. UPS has mine now. Due to be delivered Friday. 🙂
24 days since order. The "Order Status/Lead Times" in the Forums has the
Dual TV tuner on a 23 day lead so it seems about right.
