backup speed

Hi All

Running a w2k server with a HP LTO Ultrium tape backup fitted. Is there a
way I can test how much data is being transfer say in MB per second. The
unit seems a little slow and I want to make sure if its the unit or
something else

Can't you simply back up a folder of known size, and note how long that
takes, and divide?
